App Control
Add your energy tariff: Set up your time-of-use electricity tariff and let the app automatically schedule your EV to charge when it’s cheaper.
Monitor energy usage: Keep an eye on your car charging costs and every kWh used to better understand your energy usage at home.
Solar charging: Activate our solar feature in the app and use energy excess to charge your car with green energy.
Schedule charging sessions: Optimise the cost by setting up a personalised schedule in the Ohme app, based on your time and tariff preferences.
Solar Charging
The Ohme Home Pro feature a Solar Boost mode, designed to maximise the use of your solar energy for charging while minimising reliance on grid power. Although Solar Boost isn’t a “solar-only” option—since all EVs need some grid power to achieve a minimum charging rate—the goal is to use as much solar energy as possible. This approach helps reduce your carbon footprint and can lower your energy bills by providing cost-effective, green charging.
How does it work?
When you plug in your vehicle with Solar Boost enabled, Ohme waits until your solar panels generate a threshold amount of energy—typically around 0.72kW—before charging. Ohme then uses 0.72kW from the grid to meet the minimum charging rate of 1.44kW for your EV.
The more solar power you produce, the Ohme will generate less energy from the grid. On cloudy days, if your solar output isn’t enough to reach the minimum charging rate, Ohme might split the charging evenly between solar and grid power. Conversely, on sunny days with a sufficiently large solar array, you might charge your vehicle entirely from solar energy.
Scheduling
Using Solar Boost with Active Routines: When Solar Boost is enabled, Ohme calculates the energy needed to meet your charging target. If excess solar power is available, Ohme might exceed your target to utilize the solar energy you’ve generated. Here are some scheduling options:
Charging with an Active Routine: If you want to reach a specific charge level by a set time and make the most of your solar energy, you can set a routine or manually configure the charge amount. Ohme will create a schedule to meet your target by the desired time. With Solar Boost enabled, you may save on energy costs by reducing grid usage and using more solar power. For example, if it’s sunny and you need a 50% charge by 6:00 PM, Ohme will plan to meet this goal and might start charging earlier to use excess solar energy.
Charging with a 0% Target: To use only excess solar energy without a specific charge target, set your charging target to 0% in your routine or on the Charging page under ‘Charge to add’. Ohme will only charge when there is enough solar power available to activate Solar Boost.
Charging with a Price Cap: If you have a variable price tariff, you might want to use solar energy during the day and charge primarily during off-peak hours. Ensure the Price Cap is enabled, then plug in your vehicle during the day. Ohme will schedule charging for off-peak times and only use grid power outside these hours if there is excess solar energy.
Max Charging: If you need to charge your vehicle as quickly as possible, initiate Max Charge. Ohme will deliver the highest charging rate your vehicle can handle and use any available solar power to reduce grid energy usage while maintaining maximum charging speed.

This unit has built-in LED screens with buttons & indicator light strips for various charging statuses. In addition, you can fully control and monitor the Charging sessions via an Ohme mobile app.
What is the warranty period on this charging unit?
This charging unit is covered by a 3-year standard warranty period.
How long will this charging unit take to charge an EV?
This question has a number of factors to take into consideration to give a precise answer, but in the most average of situations in which the house has a 1-phase power supply, the following charging units would be capable to omit:
Charging unit output | Average Kilometres / per hour of charge |
3.6kw charging unit | 25kms/hour |
7.4kw charging unit | 50kms/hour |
11kw charging unit | 75kms/hour |
22kw charging unit | 150kms/hour |
Note: This is in no way a precise chart and is ultimately a rough guide as battery size and EV On-Board Controller has not been taken into account. For a personalised and accurate account of how long this charging unit, in particular, will be able to charge your EV, feel free to use the EV Car Guides Tool.
