Debut
In Australia, Hyundai has quickly become a household name. The company was founded in Australia in 1986, making it a relative newcomer to the industry. In the 35 years that Hyundai has been operating in the United States, a great deal has changed. For the 2020 model year, Hyundai has revised its first all-electric SUV, the Kona Electric.
What Makes It Stand Out?
Every single component of the Kona Electric is powered by electricity. You can go 484 kilometers on a single charge in this award-winning, zero-emissions SUV, which has a 150kW Extended Range motor and is packed with cutting-edge technology and safety features. Smartly integrated elements bring Kona’s unique design to life. The Kona Electric is distinctive in every way, from its elegant front grille to its seamless charging connector.
Performance
Powered by a 64kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the 2021 Hyundai Kona Electric Extended Range’s front wheels are entirely driven. The motor’s power output is 150kW and its torque output is 395Nm. According to Hyundai’s own calculations, the extended-range Kona EV has a WLTP certified range of 778 kilometers, which represents an increase of 288 km over the standard-range model. In only 47 minutes, the Extended Range battery pack can be charged from 10% to 80% using a 100kW DC charger.
MSRP
The Elite Standard Range’s basic specification begins at $54,500, while the Highlander Standard Range starts at $60,500. The more powerful, bigger battery capacity Extended Range versions add $3500 to the basic price in either situation.
